Porque El Vive | Because He Lives

This past Sunday morning my young Life Connection Class (1st and 2nd grade Sunday School) and I went over Christ’s Crucifixion. I ended that lesson with Matthew 27:54, “ When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

 As soon as I looked up from the verse one of my young one’s exclaimed, “But, Miss Ashley, that’s not where the story ends!”  These babes went on to finish telling me the story with such animated hand gestures and they even re-enacted how the tomb was covered with a rock and how the guards must have stood guard.

“He didn’t just die for us Miss Ashley,” said one child.  “He rose because he loved us so much!”

Oh, my heart, my heart, my heart.

These next few days are full of emotions for Christians, well at least me.  Shame, for my voice could be heard calling out to Crucify Him!  Guilt, for He stayed on that cross and endured the pain I deserved.  Peace, for It is finished! (John 19:30) Joy, for because He lives I can face tomorrow.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives.

Porque Él vive
Triunfaré mañana
Porque Él vive
Ya no hay temor,
Porque yo sé
Que el futuro es suyo,
La vida vale más y más, solo por Él.
