I thought about you this morning. Yes, you. Let me go back a few hours, so you can understand what made me think of you today.
I went to bed with a heavy heart and I woke up with that same heart. There was another shooting in Charleston. There’s always a shooting, but last night’s has been on my mind. They say it’s a suicide-suicide. My heart hurts for them. Whoever they are. . .whatever they felt in that moment. . .
Do you know what it made me want to do? Hug you. Hold your hand. Simply look at you and hold your gaze for one moment. I wanted to tell you that I love you. It’s true you know, I love you. Whoever you are and whether you’ve ever met me before or we’re distanced friends or family who haven’t spoken in years. . .I love you.
I just wanted to let you know that you are so loved. Maybe you know that. Maybe you don’t believe it. Maybe you think you’re not worthy of love. You are. You are more precious than the stars that kiss our night sky. You are more valuable than the diamonds and rubies we wear. You are more beautiful than the sunrise over the highest mountains. You are loved by me.
You know who else loves you?
You may not think He does. You may not even think He exists. I hope you believe me though. I know He loves you. I believe He loves you. I pray you come to know His love.
Do you know what Jeremiah 31:3 tells us?
I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Everlasting love. A love that never ends. A love that has no limits. A love that is unchanging. A love that is as constant as the hands on a clock. A love that is as steady as a lighthouse in the midst of waves crashing on its shore.
Drawn with unfailing kindness. He has pulled us to Him. He has saved us from the lowest of lows. He has pulled us from the pit of loneliness. He has drawn us to Him. To Him. He yearns to have us call Him our father.
I’m praying for you, friend. Whatever you are going through at this very moment, I’m praying for you and your heart. I love you. I do.
