For The Babies

For The Babies

Well, it’s been quite a minute hasn’t it?  Three months full of minutes actually. What better way to  post a new blog post than to share something exciting!

This year, Matthew and I have formed a family team for the 2016 March for Babies benefiting the March of Dimes. We are quite exciting to be a part of something that has more than likely affected each of you reading this.

Quick History

The March of Dimes Foundation was founded by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio.  Since then it has expanded to funding research for premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

Heavy stuff, right?

As a family, Matthew and I have decided to create a team for two reasons:

  • Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

When the time comes for us to have a child we want to say that we were proactive in making sure our baby was born into a world where we fought for it before we even knew when they would be arriving. Whether from my womb or another woman’s womb, we know God has our baby in His hands and we have our baby in mind. We are fighting for our baby.

  • Galatians 6:2 “Help carry each other’s burdens. In this way you will follow Christ’s teachings.”

Every year, 15 million babies are born too soon. Half a million of those babies are right here in the United States. I cannot even begin to imagine what these families must suffer during such a sad time in their lives. We simply want to help carry the burden of those who are currently caring for their precious babes.

So, there you have it.  We aren’t doing this because we’re pregnant. We aren’t doing this for just any reason. We are doing this because we love our future child and we love those families who are currently fighting for their amazing children.

This spring, we hope you’ll join us as we fight against premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
